CASE STUDY

Aircraft Information & Records System (AIRS)

Client
Bermuda Department of Civil Aviation

The Bermuda Department of Civil Aviation selected GCR to develop and implement a comprehensive system to manage aircraft registration and certification. In many parts of the world, governmental agencies do not possess the capabilities to register and certify aircraft as being airworthy. For aircraft operators from those countries, having their aircraft fleet certified by one of the main recognized agencies
(FAA, CCA, EU, etc.) is a must.

Bermuda is one of the premier offshore aircraft registries in the world, and is used by owners of large private aircraft located in parts of the world where aircraft registries are not available.

The AIRS system developed by GCR is used to manage numerous functions within their organization:

  • Aircraft Registration and Certification Management
This module is used to manage the complex process of registering and certifying an aircraft, including the issuance of a certificate of airworthiness. The system includes functions for declaring and recommending flight manual approvals, aircraft radio installations, minimum equipment lists, acceptance of aircraft modifications, maintenance schedules and variations, and the installation of specialized navigation equipment. Aircraft inspections, which are required as part of the registration process, are also included. The final component of the system is the issuance, renewal, or exportation of the Certificate of Airworthiness.

  • Aircraft Maintenance Organizations
This system is used to approve and mange the certification of aircraft maintenance organizations around the world who will be conducting maintenance and modifications on Bermuda registered aircraft.

  • Pilot Certificate of Validation
This module is used to validate pilots who currently have international licenses, but wish to have a valid license in Bermuda. This sub-module also includes the process for validating and approving aircraft maintenance engineers who are providing light maintenance to Bermuda registered aircraft.

  • Approval to Operate in Specialized Airspace
This module is used to manage the approval process of aircraft and pilots needing to operate in specialized airspace, such as in reduced vertical separation minima (RVSM).

  • Mortgage Registration
This module is used to mange the registration of mortgages for aircraft and/or aircraft engine.
